It describes a common chronic dysfunction of the vestibular system and brain that produces persistent dizziness, non-spinning vertigo and/or unsteadiness. WebbPPPD was defined as a disorder in 2015. Before that, several different names were used for conditions with similar symptoms, including phobic postural vertigo (PPV), space-motion discomfort (SMD), visual vertigo (VV) and chronic subjective dizziness (CSD). Researchers are not sure how many people have PPPD.
