WebAbstract. This chapter focuses on aspects of reception of North Indian classical music by North Indian audiences. In particular, it examines how ethnographic enquiries conducted among listeners can help shed light on the processes of meaning construction in music and complement the more common investigation of musicians’ perspectives.
