The gas spring is usually only pushed into the receiving bushing of the chair tilt mechanism and can be pulled out with some effort. WebIf that doesn't work, try lifting/wiggling the stopper as you pull the lift linkage up. This area of the drain often collects quite a bit of gunk, and may become difficult to disassemble when it's gunked up. You could also try removing the stopper and rocker arm first (removal instructions will depend on make and model of stopper).
